The earth is full of beautiful, natural places with extraordinary, diverse flora and fauna ecosystems that keep each other in perfect balance. But, our global environment is in grave danger, from deforestation of rain and cloud forests in South America to mountain-top removal of the Great Smoky Mountains in the Southeast United States.
Luckily, there are many organizations already on the front lines in the battle for environmental protection, such as the National Wildlife Federation. They are ever-vigilant and just as determined to preserve our earth as big business is to destroy it. If you're concerned about the state of our earth, get involved! Start small, perhaps go to your city officials and ask what you can do to help. Work your all the way up to the President, if necessary. You can do it! National Audubon Society. A large, well-known organization that gets involved with multiple issues, but specializes in education about and protection of avian species.
The Nature Conservancy. Another excellent organization with the power to make a difference. They're working to preserve the global environment as well as wildlife species.
World Wildlife Fund. Known by their Panda logo, the WWF is constantly at the forefront of global conservation battles. Their site has links for educators, wildlife lovers, activists, and much more!
